ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Review

We continue with the landing of the new mid-range motherboards for the AM4 platform. That is, those based on the B450 chipset that allows us to offer products with exceptional characteristics at very competitive prices. On this occasion we have in our test bench the Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING. A model that seeks to offer excellent quality, as well as a very careful aesthetics, as is customary in this series from the manufacturer based in Taiwan.

Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING is a motherboard based on an ATX form factor. Preferred by most users, and which allows a large number of connection slots and ports to be mounted on its PCB. The PCB maintains the black and gray aesthetics of the series, and is manufactured from high-quality materials to ensure good durability.

Before going into more detail, for the most curious, we leave you an image of the rear area. Of course it has the AMD AM4 socket , which is compatible with Ryzen and Bristol Ridge processors. The B450 chipset guarantees compatibility with all of them without the need to update the BIOS. Something that is always great to avoid the need to have a compatible processor in advance to do the update.

Remember that the AM4 platform has the pins on the processor and not on the motherboard, making the socket less delicate to manipulate.

Feature

The processor is powered by a digital 8-phase (6 + 2) VRM with DIGI + technology and Super Alloy Power II components . This translates into a high-quality processor power supply, essential for maintaining perfect stability even under demanding overclocking conditions.

The VRM is cooled by two large aluminum heatsinks. These heatsinks cannot be without the advanced Asus Aura Sync RGB lighting system. Which can be configured in 16.8 million colors and various lighting effects from an application with a very clear and easy-to-use interface. With this, the aesthetics of your new PC will be the envy of your friends.

The B450 chipset maintains the best support for technologies such as XFR 2.0 and Precision Boos 2. It should be noted that this chipset is compatible with overclocking the processor and memory, an important difference with Intel. Who only allows overclocking with its high-end chipset, the Z370. Thanks to this, we will be able to get the full potential of AMD Ryzen processors without the need to buy a motherboard with the top-of-the-range chipset, which are much more expensive.
